Official: Danilo’s yellow card vs Villareal has been rescinded | April 29, 2016

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Appeals Committee has rescinded the yellow card shown to defender Danilo in Real Madrid’s win over Villarreal earlier this month.

During the first half of Real’s 3-0 La Liga victory at the Bernabéu, the full-back was wrongly cautioned by referee Carlos Clos Gómez for a foul committed by team-mate Casemiro.

Los Blancos moved to contest the booking in view of the evident case of mistaken identity, but saw the card initially upheld by the RFEF’s Competition Committee.

But following a renewed challenge by the Spanish capital outfit, the governing body’s Appeals Committee has opted to overturn that ruling.

“I’d like to clear that up because I think there’s been some misunderstanding. The press published that I said: ‘the shitting-yourself-o-meter is back’ but what I actually said was: ‘Good shit-pants-o-meter’. For you, who’s the best centre-back in the world?
“I have some very good company here at Madrid (Sanchís and Camacho). In the present game, I’ve always liked Thiago Silva, Piqué I have always considered among the best, my two team mates, Pepe who has a lot of experience and Varane who is developing at an amazing rate, and without getting too carried away about it, I’ve always though Godín is a very good centre-back.

“I don’t know if he has played golf or not, but we must have all 20 senses focused at 100 percent at this stage of the season when we are playing for so much,” Ramos said. “From when you wake up until you go to bed you think just about football, as everything is on the line.
